What we do and don't store
The sections below explain each of these in detail.
- No advertising cookies: We do not place advertising cookies or tracking pixels. No third-party ad network has access to your browsing behavior through LearnByAi.
- No cross-site tracking: We do not track you across other websites. Storage is scoped to learnbyai.app only.
- Session token for your workspace: An anonymous session token in local storage keeps your uploaded documents and chat history isolated to your device.
- Functional preferences: Lightweight flags remember UI state across sessions, such as volume preferences and layout choices.
- Sign-in tokens: When you sign in, your access and refresh tokens are kept in your browser's local storage and sent with your requests to verify your identity. Unlike HTTP-only cookies, local storage can be read by scripts running on the page.
- You control all of it: You can review, limit, or clear your local storage and cookies at any time from your browser's privacy settings.
Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Browser local storage works similarly but holds larger amounts of data directly inside your browser. Both persist across page loads and, depending on how they are set, can survive browser restarts.
- Session cookies: Exist only while your browser is open. Deleted automatically when you close the tab or window.
- Persistent local storage: Survives browser restarts. Used for your anonymous session token and, when you are signed in, your sign-in tokens, so your workspace is recognized on your next visit.
What LearnByAi stores in your browser
LearnByAi uses three categories of browser storage, each serving a distinct purpose.
A. Strictly necessary storage
When you use LearnByAi without signing in, we generate a unique anonymous session token (anonymous_id) stored in your browser's local storage. This token is your session anchor: it keeps your uploaded documents and chat history isolated strictly to your device. Without it, the platform cannot associate your documents with your current session. Clearing this storage immediately severs access to your previous documents.
B. Functional storage
Lightweight browser flags preserve your UI preferences across sessions, including voice playback volume and any layout adjustments you have made. These are not used for analytics or marketing.
C. Sign-in tokens
When you create an account and sign in, your access and refresh tokens are stored in your browser's local storage and sent with each request to verify your identity. They are not stored in cookies, and scripts running on a page can read local storage. Our sign-in provider's browser library may also keep its own copy of your session in local storage. Signing out clears the tokens.

The services that power LearnByAi may also interact with your browser storage in the ways described below.
Supabase (authentication)
Its browser library may keep a copy of your sign-in session in local storage to verify your identity when you are signed in. No tracking cookies are involved.
Cloudinary (file storage)
Uses short-lived signed URLs to control access to your uploaded files. Cloudinary does not set persistent tracking cookies in your browser.
OpenAI (AI processing)
All API calls to OpenAI are made server-side. OpenAI does not set any cookies in your browser and does not receive your identity information.
Polar (card payments)
If you pay by card, you are sent to a hosted checkout page operated by Polar. That page is covered by Polar's own cookie and privacy policies.
How to manage or clear your storage
You can review, limit, or clear local storage and cookies directly from your browser's privacy settings.

Cookie questions
Does LearnByAi use advertising or tracking cookies?
No. We do not place advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or cross-site tracking cookies. No ad network can track you through LearnByAi.
What happens if I clear my browser storage?
If you are using LearnByAi without an account, clearing your browser's local storage removes your anonymous session token. This immediately severs access to your previous documents and chat history, since the token is the only link between your browser and your workspace. Documents themselves remain in storage until automatic cleanup runs, but you will no longer be able to retrieve them. If you have a signed-in account, your data persists under your login credentials regardless of browser changes.
Does LearnByAi work if I block all cookies?
LearnByAi itself does not use cookies for sign-in or for anonymous sessions; both rely on local storage, so blocking cookies alone does not stop them from working. Blocking or clearing local storage will sign you out and remove your anonymous session token. Pages operated by third parties, such as the Google sign-in screen or the payment checkout, may set their own cookies.
Does LearnByAi use analytics?
Not at the moment. We do not currently run a web analytics tool on LearnByAi's pages. If we add privacy-conscious analytics in the future, we will describe it on this page before it starts.
How do I manage cookies for learnbyai.app specifically?
In most browsers you can open the developer tools (F12), go to the Application or Storage tab, and view or delete cookies and local storage entries for learnbyai.app directly. You can also use your browser's site-specific settings to block storage for this domain.
