What we do and don't store

The sections below explain each of these in detail.

No advertising cookies

We do not place advertising cookies or tracking pixels. No third-party ad network has access to your browsing behavior through LearnByAi.

No cross-site tracking

We do not track you across other websites. Storage is scoped to learnbyai.app only.

Session token for your workspace

An anonymous session token in local storage keeps your uploaded documents and chat history isolated to your device.

Functional preferences

Lightweight flags remember UI state across sessions, such as volume preferences and layout choices.

Secure API cookies

Authentication uses HTTP-only cookies to verify your identity across API requests securely. These are not readable by JavaScript.

You control all of it

You can review, limit, or clear your local storage and cookies at any time from your browser's privacy settings.

Background

Cookies and local storage

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Browser local storage works similarly but holds larger amounts of data directly inside your browser. Both persist across page loads and, depending on how they are set, can survive browser restarts.

Session cookies

Exist only while your browser is open. Deleted automatically when you close the tab or window.

Persistent local storage

Survives browser restarts. Used for your anonymous session token so your workspace is recognized on your next visit.

Storage Categories

What LearnByAi stores in your browser

LearnByAi uses three categories of browser storage, each serving a distinct purpose.

A. Strictly necessary storage

When you use LearnByAi without signing in, we generate a unique anonymous session token (anonymous_id) stored in your browser's local storage. This token is your session anchor: it keeps your uploaded documents and chat history isolated strictly to your device. Without it, the platform cannot associate your documents with your current session. Clearing this storage immediately severs access to your previous documents.

B. Functional storage

Lightweight browser flags preserve your UI preferences across sessions, including voice playback volume and any layout adjustments you have made. These are not used for analytics or marketing.

C. Authentication cookies

When you create an account and sign in, Supabase sets an HTTP-only session cookie to verify your identity across API requests. This cookie cannot be read by JavaScript, which protects it from cross-site scripting attacks. It is cleared when you sign out.

Third-Party Providers

Storage from our infrastructure partners

The services that power LearnByAi may also interact with your browser storage in the ways described below.

1

Supabase (authentication)

Sets an HTTP-only session cookie to verify your identity when you are signed in. No tracking cookies are involved.

2

Cloudinary (file storage)

Uses short-lived signed URLs to control access to your uploaded files. Cloudinary does not set persistent tracking cookies in your browser.

3

OpenAI (AI processing)

All API calls to OpenAI are made server-side. OpenAI does not set any cookies in your browser and does not receive your identity information.

4

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns such as which pages are visited most. This sets a first-party _ga cookie. It does not identify you personally. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Your Controls

How to manage or clear your storage

You can review, limit, or clear local storage and cookies directly from your browser's privacy settings.

Chrome

Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data

Firefox

Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data

Safari

Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data

Edge

Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data

Important notice

LearnByAi relies on browser local storage to keep your anonymous workspace separate from other users. Clearing your browser data or enabling strict auto-delete storage settings will remove your session token, making previously uploaded documents inaccessible. If you have a signed-in account, your data persists under your credentials regardless of browser changes.
