📐

What is a logical page?

LearnByAi measures document usage by the amount of extracted text content rather than physical PDF pages. This keeps the free allowance fair across PDFs, Word files, spreadsheets, presentations, and scanned documents, regardless of how the original file is formatted.

Uploads

Upload almost any document

Drag a file onto the sidebar or click to browse. Multiple files can be uploaded in a single drop. The app runs a preflight check (quota, eligibility, and type detection) before processing.

📄

PDF

Text-based or scanned. OCR runs automatically on image-only pages

Auto-Detection

The app reads the document type, and you confirm it

When you upload, the backend analyses the file and suggests a document type. A modal shows the detected type. You can accept the suggestion or override it from the full list of eight types. The type you choose stays attached to the document and drives the quick actions and AI prompts for every chat.

Cards with an arrow link to a dedicated feature page for that document type. The chips shown are that type's quick action set, explained in the next section.

Smart Quick Actions

One-tap prompts tailored to the document type

Once a document is selected and chat is started, a row of action chips appears at the bottom of the chat input. These switch based on the document type. A medical record gets "Diagnoses & Findings" while a contract gets "Risk Clauses." Tapping a chip sends a fully formed, expert-level prompt to the AI with no typing required.

Quick actions work alongside the free-text input. Use them as shortcuts or as a starting point you can follow up on with your own questions. They remain active throughout the chat session.

Document Chat

Ask questions, extract information, get answers

Once a document is selected, the full chat interface is live. Ask anything in plain language and get an answer grounded in the exact passage of your document, with the source referenced so you can verify it.

Ask direct questions

"What are the payment terms?" or "What did the blood test show?" The AI finds the exact passage.

📝

Summarize

Request a one-paragraph summary or a bullet-point breakdown of a section or the whole file.

📋

Extract structured data

Pull out dates, names, figures, obligations, diagnoses, or any structured list from the document.

📊

Generate reports

Produce a structured report with findings, key points, and recommended action items ready to share.

Document Comparison

Compare two documents side by side

Compare mode works across any two documents in your library: two contract versions, two reports, two research papers. You don't need them to be the same type.

01

Select two documents

Check any two documents in the sidebar. The Compare chip activates once you have a valid pair.

02

Choose focus areas

Pick additions, removals, changed terms, or common clauses. Add freeform notes for the AI.

03

Read the structured diff

The AI returns a side-by-side comparison with citations back to each document.

04

Continue the conversation

Ask follow-up questions, request a risk assessment, or draft a change log, all in the same chat.

⚠️

Compare mode requires exactly two documents selected. Selecting more or fewer deactivates the Compare chip. Deselect extras, or use the "Select 2" shortcut in the sidebar header.

WhatsApp

Document AI, wherever you work

Use LearnByAi directly from WhatsApp. Send a document, ask a question, and get an AI answer, all inside the app you already have. No download, no app switching, no new account required to start.

📎

Send any document

Attach a PDF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT, or image file exactly like sending a file to a friend. The AI reads and indexes it instantly.

💬

Ask by text or voice

Type your question or send a voice note. You'll get a spoken reply back plus the full text answer. No typing required.

🔄

Compare documents

Send two documents and type /compare and the AI returns a structured diff of additions, removals, and changes.

Audio Input

Ask questions with your voice

A microphone button sits in the chat input bar. Tap and hold to record, release to send. The audio is transcribed automatically and sent as a query against the selected document.

🎤

Record a voice query

Tap the mic in the input bar. Your recording is transcribed and the transcript shown in the chat as 🎤 "your words here".

📝

Transcript in the chat

The transcribed text appears as your message, so you can verify exactly what the AI received and refer back to it.

🔊

Audio reply

The AI's response is read back to you via text-to-speech in your selected language. The entire interaction can be hands-free.

Multilingual

Ask and receive answers in any language

A language selector lives in the chat input bar. Change it at any time. The AI locks its responses to your chosen language. It won't drift into English mid-conversation.

🌐

The Translate button under any AI message lets you translate that specific response into a different language, independent of the global language setting. Useful when you need a passage in a second language without switching the whole session.

Response Actions

Three actions under every AI response

Once the AI finishes a response, three buttons appear directly below the message. They apply to that individual response only, not global settings.

📋

Copy

Copies the full AI response text to your clipboard. One tap, no selection needed.

🔊

Listen

Plays the response as speech in the currently selected language. Generated on-demand and played inline. No download.

🌐

Translate

Opens a language picker. Choose any target language and the message is re-translated in place.

Export

Download OCR'd text as PDF or Word

Each document tile in the sidebar has a three-dot menu. Inside it you'll find download options, both for the original file and for the extracted (OCR'd) text.

📄

Save as PDF

.pdf

Exports the OCR-extracted text from any document as a clean, formatted PDF. Useful when the original was a scanned image or unselectable scan.

📝

Save as Word (.docx)

.docx

Downloads the same extracted text as an editable Word file. Paste into reports, contracts, or any other document workflow.

💡

The Download Original option in the same menu saves the file you uploaded: the unchanged original, regardless of what OCR or processing the app ran on it.

How the App Works

Upload → Select → Ask → Get answers

The app moves through three states in sequence. No AI calls are made until you consciously start a chat.

State 1
📂

Upload & organise

The sidebar is active. Upload documents, assign types, and browse your library. Nothing is sent to the AI yet.

State 2
▶️

Select & start

Select one or two documents. The main area shows a Start Chat panel. Click Start Chat to load history and activate the input.

State 3
💬

Chat

Full chat is active. History for this document set loads, quick actions appear, voice and language controls are live. Compare mode, response actions, and export are all available.

🔒

Privacy & document retention

Documents are stored in session-isolated storage. Files are never shared with other users and never used to train AI models. Anonymous and free-account documents are automatically removed after 7 days. You can delete any document manually at any time from the sidebar. Creating an account keeps your history associated with your login for as long as you're active. Full details on the Security page →
